Industrial hygiene services for companies

Maintaining adequate levels of industrial hygiene in a plant is not just a legal obligation: it is an essential condition for protecting people's health, guaranteeing product quality, and ensuring operational continuity. Any deviation can lead to cross-contamination, production stoppages, or administrative penalties.

At SITRA we design and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene services for demanding environments: from Legionella control and industrial disinfection to water treatment and preventive facility maintenance.

How can SITRA, as an industrial hygiene company, contribute?

Industrial hygiene identifies, evaluates, and controls the physical, chemical, and biological factors that can compromise the health of workers or the integrity of the production process.

In environments with intensive water use —agri-food plants, pharmaceutical industry, air conditioning installations— this task requires specialized knowledge and proven methodologies.

At SITRA, we analyze each facility, identify critical control points , and design a customized program that covers everything from surface and equipment disinfection to the control of microorganisms such as Legionella pneumophila. All of this is done using our own analytical equipment and a methodology based on continuous improvement.

Industrial hygiene without stopping production

We plan every treatment for your window: maintenance shutdown, shift change, or production line operation. Preventative maintenance costs less than the breakdown it avoids.

How does our industrial hygiene service work?

Our service always begins with a preliminary technical diagnosis. Based on this analysis, we design a customized action plan with protocols, products, frequency, and control criteria. The process is structured in four phases:

Initial audit and diagnosis

We assess the condition of the facilities, identify risks, and establish critical control points. In systems with domestic hot water or cooling towers, we include sampling for Legionella analysis.

Treatment plan design

We develop a preventive maintenance program with the necessary cleaning, disinfection and chemical treatment actions to keep the parameters within regulatory limits.

Implementation of treatments

Our team applies the appropriate products – biocides, disinfectants, corrosion inhibitors, and anti-scaling agents – minimizing the impact on production and documenting every action. Learn more about DDD treatments.

Analytical monitoring and control

Periodic controls, microbiological and physicochemical analyses, and program adjustments as needed. The client has access to documentation at all times to demonstrate regulatory compliance.

Legionella doesn't give any warning before it appears

Cooling towers, domestic hot water, process circuits: we identify your critical points and establish the control schedule required by Royal Decree 865/2003. With our own laboratory and short response times.

Benefits of having us as a leading industrial hygiene company in the sector

Outsourcing industrial hygiene to a specialized partner allows you to focus on your core business without sacrificing control or traceability . These are the key advantages:

Reduction of health and occupational risks

We minimize the likelihood of microbiological contamination — including outbreaks of legionellosis — and reduce exposure to legal liabilities for regulatory non-compliance.

Guaranteed operational continuity

Our protocols are designed to be implemented with minimal impact on production . Preventive maintenance avoids unplanned downtime and extends the lifespan of equipment.

Updated regulatory compliance

We ensure that the installation is always up to date with RD 865/2003 , the RITE and the applicable sector regulations, ready to pass any inspection.

Traceability and complete documentation

Each intervention is recorded with analytical results, products used, and corrective actions. Documentation is ready for any audit , at any time.

Long-term cost savings

The investment in preventive maintenance is always less than the cost of managing its consequences : breakdowns, equipment replacement, or health incidents.

Experts in the sector

At SITRA we have accumulated years of experience in industrial hygiene for sectors such as the agri-food, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, metallurgical industries and hospital and air conditioning facilities.

Our team includes specialized technicians, environmental engineers, and water treatment experts with accredited training. We use our own analytical equipment to provide short response times and accurate, rigorous diagnoses.

We also collaborate with accredited external laboratories for microbiological and physicochemical analyses, guaranteeing the official validity of the results.

Frequently asked questions about our industrial hygiene service

We begin with a detailed diagnosis of the facility: type of industry, production processes, water systems, and critical control points. From there, we develop a customized plan with protocols, products, and intervention frequencies. The program is reviewed and adjusted periodically based on the results.

We use biocides, disinfectants, industrial detergents, corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, and pH regulators, specifically selected for each installation. All are approved for industrial use and comply with the European Biocides Regulation (EU 528/2012).

We schedule each intervention at the most convenient time for the client—maintenance shutdowns, shift changes—and define the necessary safety protocols. Our experience in active environments allows us to perform most jobs without interrupting normal operations.

Any industry with water installations, air conditioning systems, or processes requiring controlled hygienic conditions. We work especially with the agri-food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, hospitals, hotels, and water treatment plants.

It depends on the type of installation and the applicable regulations. For cooling towers and domestic hot water systems subject to Royal Decree 865/2003, we establish a schedule that guarantees legal compliance. In other cases, the frequency may be monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually, with the possibility of requesting additional interventions at any time.

We work exclusively with approved products that have up-to-date safety data sheets and comply with the European Biocides Regulation. We maintain an up-to-date record of all products used in each facility to demonstrate compliance in the event of any inspection.

Through objective indicators: microbiological and physicochemical analytical results, comparison of parameters before and after treatments, and recording of incidents and corrective actions. All consolidated in periodic reports for the client.
