SITRA has recently been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the industrial wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for the new factory of a major frozen vegetable company in the town of Alhama de Murcia, which will comply with the discharge parameters to the municipal collector according to regulations.

The contract also includes membrane treatment of the feedwater to the cooling towers, which will significantly improve water consumption. To this end, SITRA will be responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for an average flow rate of 1.000 m³/day with average COD loads of 8.000 ppm. Within this framework, it will install a anaerobic reactor with EGSB technology, whose function will be the degradation of organic matter.

On the other hand, the company will be in charge of the design, installation and commissioning phase of the water treatment plant with reverse osmosis technology for a permeate flow rate of 25 m3/h, which will feed the cooling tower stream.

It is worth noting that the Region of Murcia is the second largest producer of frozen vegetables in Spain, after Navarre. Its growth has been steady in recent years, leading the company to plan the new facilities to meet the significant demand for frozen fruits and vegetables and prepared meals.
