Facsa, Sitra and Biovic highlight the importance of renewable energies and water management technologies at the II Valencian Economic Forum

Facsa, Sitra y Biovic They played a leading role in the 2nd Valencian Community Economic Forum, 'The Economic Attraction of the Mediterranean,' organized by El Español, Invertia, and Disruptors and Innovators. This important event was held at Innsomnia Accelerator with the aim of analyzing the current state of the Valencian Community's economy, its transformation, and its future prospects.

The Valencian energy revolution has been one of the key aspects discussed at this forum, and Luis Puchades, CEO of Biovic, along with representatives from Iberdrola, Redeia, and Avaesen, have highlighted the need to promote more sustainable models and commit to the decarbonization of the economy through renewable energies.

Also during the first day, Ricardo Sáez, CEO of Sitra, was interviewed. He highlighted the enormous potential of biomethane in Spain and called for streamlining the bureaucratic process to allow the sector to thrive and develop. "Currently, there are hundreds of pending applications for the construction of biogas plants." He explained that "Europe has 20.000 biogas plants, while Spain only has 200; however, we are the third country with the greatest potential for biomethane production."

On the other hand, Luis Basiero, director of the Sanitation and Purification Area of FacsaDuring his participation in the roundtable discussion 'Challenges in Water Resource Management,' Basiero pointed out that water reuse is "a key aspect" with "room for improvement." Regarding the use of new technologies for water management, Basiero indicated that, as in "any production process, digitalization is key."

During the second day, Víctor Ferrando, Head of New Business at Facsa, along with representatives from the Valencia City Council and Lanzadera, discussed how open innovation is being addressed in the region. Ferrando stated that "innovation has always been a cross-cutting theme for Facsa, because the sector has a strong technological component." He also detailed how the company works on its open innovation program to "attract talent and disruptive technologies, integrate them into our processes, or offer new services to our clients."

The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, was in charge of inaugurating the Forum and during his speech he defended the strategic investments planned in the Valencian territory and stressed that the growth capacity of the Valencian Community must be "untouchable".

This meeting also included the participation of, among other speakers, Salomé Pradas, Minister of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory; José Antonio Rovira, Minister of Education, Universities and Employment; Nuria Montes, Minister of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Trade; Ruth Merino, Minister of Finance, Economy and Public Administration; Vicente Mompó, President of the Provincial Council of Valencia; María José Catalá, Mayor of Valencia; José Benlloch, Mayor of Vila-real; and Carlos Fernández Bielsa, Mayor of Mislata.
