ZITHER, a company specializing in the technological transformation of the water cycle for industry, offering comprehensive and innovative solutions and services for the efficient and sustainable management of water in industry, has achieved a significant milestone in industrial water treatment with the incorporation of MBR technology (Membrane bioreactor) in their projects.
With this advancement, the company is able to increase the treatment capacity of its facilities without increasing the space required, and therefore without the need for new construction. Furthermore, the quality of the treated water is substantially improved.

Companies in the Galician dairy sector

This advancement, which SITRA has already incorporated into companies in the Galician dairy sector, is part of its own methodology that includes both state-of-the-art technology and an "ad hoc" implementation system. This allows for the construction of industrial wastewater treatment plants using MBR technology or the adaptation of existing plants using other technologies (activated sludge, SBR - Sequential Bioreactor - etc.) by incorporating this technology. This provides a quick and economical solution, as it allows for increased flow and load without using more space and by reusing the existing installation.

On the other hand, the new methodology used during the implementation process, which lasts approximately five months, has a sequential approach, which avoids stoppages in the process and fosters a significant increase in debugging capacity, without interrupting the company's production at any time.
Ricardo Sáez, general manager of ZITHER, assures that: “The adoption of this system represents a significant advance in the field of industrial wastewater treatment, and is especially relevant for those companies in the agri-food sector that are looking for effective solutions to optimize their production processes and comply with increasingly strict environmental regulations.”
Furthermore, the implementation of MBR technology also allows for obtaining a high-quality effluent that meets the most demanding standards. In fact, given this quality, MBR technology opens the door to...Obtaining regenerated water for other uses. In this regard, various business organizations in the food industry have been insistently requesting public administrations to promote these types of solutions.
Finally, the system powered by SITRA also allows generate less sludge and has a lower operating expenses (OPEX). All these advantages make it a highly efficient and sustainable option.
